FAQs

Why does this matter?

The 1972 Rapid City Flood shaped Rapid City into what it is today. In order to prevent the loss of lives from another flood, Friends of the Rapid City Parks (FRCP)  promotes awareness about the historical event while also encouraging celebration and use of the priceless outdoor space. It rivals the green space available in any other city in the country, and it is one of the largest green spaces for the size of the city!

What does Friends of the Rapid City Parks do with the money they raise?

Our budget includes public awareness and advocacy for the value to all generations of the greenway, an annual greenway event, public awareness materials such as QR codes on the bikepath, digital communications and education about the parks and floodplain management.
