2013 Candidate Forum May 30 at The Journey Museum

Friends of Rapid City Parks, in conjunction with Democracy in Action, will hold a forum for candidates seeking office in the upcoming school and municipal election on June 4.  The forum will take place on Thursday, May 30, 2013, at The Journey Museum’s theater, beginning at 6:30 p.m.  The Journey Museum is located at 222 New York Street in Rapid City.

This will be the last of several community forums before the June 4 municipal election.

School board candidates will lead off the event, followed by mayoral contenders and finishing with city council candidates. The event is free and open to the public.

“Please bring your questions,” Steve McCarthy, president of Friends said.  “We will have time for questions from the public, as well as targeted parks issue questions and this forum will be the last public opportunity to get answers before the election.”

The candidate forum is the eighth that Friends has sponsored, and its third partnering with Democracy in Action.

How candidates see the role of green space as a driver of economic growth, how the schools use park land, and how candidates make decisions about proposed policies or projects all affect the future of our parks legacy. Watch this site for more information on these topics.
